Participation in eco-enterprise workshop, India

November 3, KATHMANDU - ANSAB (Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bioresources) from Nepal is participating workshop on eco-enterprises to be held in Ooty, India on November 4-6, 2004 which will focus on equity, sustainability, profitability, market-place and eco-friendly enterprise management aspects. The participation from Nepal in this workshop, organized by Ford Foundation, is also an opportunity for us to develop market linkages, to share ideas and knowledge on the enterprise based ecological sustainability which will contribute to income generation and biodiversity conservation.

Mr. Bhishma P. Subedi, Executive Director of ANSAB is one of the participants at the eco-enterprise workshop to be held in India and he has a story to tell in the workshop ‘can community and enterprise create synergy for conservation and local livelihood?’

ANSAB, working in South Asia region, has a focal position in the field through its work for over a decade in ecological, technological, economic, and socio-cultural fronts associated to people-centered conservation, management, and use of biodiversity, especially the non-timber forest products (NTFPs) in Nepal. Therefore, ANSAB was requested to share and contribute at the workshop.

Ford Foundation programmatic staff and a number of organizations and individuals around the world working in area of biodiversity conservation, enterprise development and sustainability are taking part in the workshop on eco-enterprise.
