Consultancy opportunity with ANSAB: CHW Training Curriculum and Manual Development Specialist

Position:                      CHW Training Curriculum and Manual Development Specialist

Duty Station:              Kathmandu with field visit for the training need assessment (TNA)

Key Responsibilities

  • Review existing national and international training materials for the identification, prevention, surveillance and reporting of zoonotic diseases at grass root level
  • Review various training modules of community health trainings
  • Conduct necessary training need assessment (TNA)
  • Consult with One Health Training & Capacity Building Consultant of the One Health Asia Programme
  • Consult with the Department of Livestock Services and the Department of Health Services for their inputs
  • Develop a two weeks Training Curriculum and Manual for CHWs considering ten working days for basic training and two working days for the refresher training including session guidelines. The training should focus on zoonotic disease identification, prevention, surveillance, and reporting at the community level under the one health approach. The training manual should also include two days training curriculum for butchers, meat sellers, poultry and livestock farmers and livestock traders on Zoonoses with an objective of adoption of effective bio-safety and bio-security protocols in slaughter houses, animal trading centers, meat & butcher shops, and poultry & livestock farms
  • Design training materials based on adult learning principles
  • Develop and include suitable training tools for CHW training
  • Develop the Training materials in both Nepali and English languages
  • Conduct validation meeting with the project team for the draft Training Curriculum and Manual
  • Submit final training manual and curriculum incorporating comments provided during the validation meeting

Qualifications and Requirements

This position demands a seasoned professional in training and capacity building in both the public and animal health programmes. The incumbent should have:

  • At least Post Graduate degree in Veterinary Science or Public Health or One Health with proven experience in training and capacity building
  • At least 5 years of experience in TNA and curricula/manuals development with significant experience of working in capacity building component of animal/human health
  • Proven experience of working throughout the steps of training cycle
  • Knowledge and experience in prevention and control of prevalent zoonotic diseases in Nepal
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in Nepali and English
