Vacancy Announcement – Forest Technician

ANSAB is currently seeking dynamic, energetic and career-oriented field based candidates for the ongoing and new projects under its program area: Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Climate Change Program. Detail of the position with responsibilities, essential skills and qualifications are as follows:

Forest Technician – 1 (Dolakha)

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake overall responsibility to plan, coordinate and implement project activities in the field;
  • Manage, supervise and build the capacity of local resource person and stakeholders;
  • Carry out gap analysis of management plan of the CFUGs with respect to Forest Stewardship Council Standards and capacitate the CFUGs to meet the gap;
  • Carry out assessment and monitoring of forest resources and ecosystem services
  • Facilitate CFUGs to develop/revise their forest management plan and get approval from the authority;
  • Aware local communities and stakeholders on forest certification’s process and benefits;
  • Identify potential PES schemes and facilitate to implement them;
  • Support to organize and facilitate district level workshop, meeting and discussion to liaison resources for community development especially towards establishing FSC certified PES;
  • Coordinate with district and local level government and civil society organizations to enhance synergy in the project;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • I. Sc./diploma in forestry with 2 years of experience, or bachelor degree in any discipline with Intermediate degree in forestry with one years of experience;
  • In-depth knowledge on handing over process of community forests;
  • Good knowledge on, forest certification, organizing community groups, local resource persons;
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work duties as well as work competently under pressure and tight deadlines;
  • Proficient in using information technologies and good computer skills, particularly in the use of MS Office Package (MS Word, MS access, MS Excel).
