ANSAB is currently seeking qualified, dynamic and result-oriented persons for the following positions:

1. Position: Institutional/Enterprise Development Expert/Officer
Duty station: Bandhu VDC, Bajura, Nepal
Duration: Five months (August to December 2016)
Required number: 1

Background of this position - ANSAB in partnership with Mission East Nepal and ICCO Cooperation is implementing a project “Climate Smart Agriculture in the Himalaya – An Innovative Green Business Model for Food Security and Poverty Reduction of Mountainous Communities of Nepal” in the Wai and Bandhu VDCs of Bajura District of Nepal. The project aims to test an innovative climate-smart agriculture and green business model for food and nutrition security, poverty reduction and resilience by lifting the Karnali River water using solar energy, producing and marketing high value crop seeds and increasing awareness on the nutrition. For the project, ANSAB seeks a dynamic, result-oriented and field-based consultant in the capacity of Institutional Development Expert for a period of five months. The consultant will be responsible for strengthening the community linkages to external organizations like VDC, DADO, District Cottage and Small-Industry Office and other potential I/NGOs for possible resource generation, as well as for raising awareness on importance of the entire system. He/she needs to develop business and irrigation management plan of the Users’ Groups.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor in any discipline with 2 years of experience in enterprise creation, development or management

Major roles and responsibilities:

  • Develop community-private partnership enterprises at local level in close cooperation with field technicians, community member and project officials.
  • Develop a shareholding mechanisms, governance structure, area of work, benefit sharing mechanisms, and registration process of the local enterprise in close cooperation with field technicians, community member and project officials.
  • Develop required documents needed for registration like article of association, article of memorandum, stamp, letter pad, receipt, vouchers, ledgers and facilitate enterprise registration.
  • Provide training on entrepreneurship development, business planning incl. institutional development.
  • Develop detail business plan of the enterprises
  • Develop detail irrigation management plan of the solar-powered lift irrigation systems for users’ committees.
  • Strengthen institutional capacity of the enterprises to establish linkages with other government and non-governmental organizations working in the district such as VDC, DDC, DADO, CSIDB, financial institutions and relevant I/NGOs.
  • Design and develop a sustainable mechanism for handing over the project component such as solar-powered lift irrigation system to local community.
  • Raise awareness and importance of the entire project at local and district levels.
  • Mobilize and strengthen community with management skills and knowledge on enterprise development, business and irrigation plans, and
  • Build trust and cooperation among community members.

2. Position: Civil Engineer (Re-advertisement)
Duty station: Kathmandu with frequent field visit
Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension
Required number: 1

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with 2 years of project implementation experience at community level,or
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering (Overseer) and Bachelor in any discipline with 5 years of project implementation experience at community level

Major roles and responsibilities:

  • Manage inputs and human resources to ensure effective implementation of the program
  • Coordinate with village level, district level and national level concerned government agencies and civil society organizations
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual report and other necessary reports as and when required
  • Document the project information in an organized way
  • Take part in different relevant forums representing ANSAB
  • Develop plan of action in consultation with program team and private partners active in the program implementation sites
  • Design, estimate and supervise in development of infrastructures esp. shelter, drinking water and irrigation
  • Facilitate demonstration of promising, cost efficient and effective infrastructures and technological options
  • Facilitate in procurement of relevant tools, equipment, and machineries
  • Provide training to local partners, community members and construction workers on technical aspects
