Vacancy Announcement: District Project Officer

ANSAB is currently seeking a dynamic, energetic and career-oriented field-based candidate for the position of District Project Officer for its ongoing and new projects in Dolakha under the program area: Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services and Climate Change (BESCC). Details of the responsibilities, essential skills and qualifications for the position are presented below:

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake overall responsibility to coordinate and implement project activities in Dolakha district;
  • Manage, supervise and build the capacity of field staff and local resource person;
  • Contribute to develop the training and capacity building material on forest certification, REDD+ and deliver capacity building activities;
  • Carry out gap analysis of CFUGs management plan with respect to Forest Stewardship Council Standards and capacitate the CFUGs to meet the gaps;
  • Aware local communities and stakeholders on process and benefits of forest;
  • Identify and implement potential Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) schemes;
  • Coordinate with district and local level government and civil society organizations to enhance synergy to the project.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in any discipline with Intermediatedegree in forestry and two years of experience;
  • Practical knowledge on handing over process of community forests;
  • Good knowledge on forest certification (especially FSC), and organization of community groups and local resource persons;
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work duties as well as work competently under pressure and tight deadlines;
  • Proficient in using information technologies and good computer skills, particularly in the use of MS Office Package (MS Word, MS access, MS Excel);
  • Proficient in both written and verbal Nepali and English;
  • Prior experience in ANSAB or organizations with similar nature would be an asset;
  • Residents from Dolakha or candidates with prior working experience in the district would be an advantage.
